- The ARIA Awards
We were lucky enough to attend the ARIA Awards in Sydney this month! Showcasing some of Australia’s most talented musicians, we were treated to performances by Conrad Sewell, Peking Duk and Hermitude to name just a few! Although there were some cringe worthy moments, the ARIAs proved to be a great night out.
2. Ayana Jewellery
If you love dainty jewellery half as much as we do, you’ll fall head over heels for Ayana Jewellery. The sterling silver pieces come in a variety of collections, including geometric (we got our ones from here!), rock & romance or bespoke. You can check out the pieces we chose here, here and here, and we’ve even organised a SECRET CODE for our readers!
Just head on over to ayanajewellery.com and once you’re finished choosing your new items, type in YOUTH10 as the coupon code and you’ll instantly receive 10% off your purchase!
3. YOU Wines
If you’re looking to become a bit of a wine connoisseur, but you’re not really sure where to start, we recommend YOU Wines. Our favourite is the Pinot Grigio (pictured here!) but we’re sure that you’ll love the whole set. An excellent pre-game alternative to goon, or great for a girl’s night in with a cheese platter.
4.#chicagoGirl: The Social Network Takes On A Dictator
A lot of interesting things have been happening to do with social media this month including the whole #socialmediaisntreal (#getoveritessena) thing. It’s exposed all the fakeness and bullshit that goes on behind the scenes of social media, however this documentary highlights how much power it has to do good.
If you haven’t seen this documentary on Netflix you should watch it. TBH, it’s not for those who want to stay in their first world bubble and not think that anything outside their world happens; but if you’re interested in the power of social media and you want to be inspired to the max – it’s amazing.
5.Conrad Sewell
After seeing Conrad Sewell at the ARIAs, we’ve grown a little obsession. You can tell that years of touring has made him an excellent performer, and the obsession was furthered by his amazing EP. I personally believe that singing isn’t enough of a skill – you have to be able to write a great song and/or play an instrument as well. Lucky for Conrad, he has the trio. So basically buy his EP All I Know, it’s great.
6.Power Nap
This app is the best thing ever. It wakes you up before you go into a deep sleep, so you don’t wake up feeling like shit. As a napping enthusiast, I highly recommend this, as I know all too well that feeling when you wake up groggy and grumpy, and you feel like choosing to have that nap was the worst decision of your life. It’s a real problem, but this app sorts it out.
7.Florence + the Machine
Earlier in the month, I saw Florence + the Machine live. It was incredible (as expected) – she’s just one of those artists that you know couldn’t make it without being incredibly talented. She sang all her classic hits, as well some of her new ones off How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful which was released earlier this year. In my opinion, it’s the best pop album released this year (yes, better than Adele’s 25.)
8.Bondi Sands Fake Tan
To be honest, I’ve never had that feeling of needing to be tan to look good. I feel like it’s because firstly, I used to have naturally quite dark skin and secondly, as a child, I used to have an obsession with pale skin and red hair. But for the first time in forever, I fake tanned and realised that I look a LOT better tanned, so I’ve decided that fake tan is for me. I also don’t really feel like exposing myself to skin cancer, just to look good. Throughout this month, I have tried more than a few and have decided that Bondi Sands is the way to go: it’s cheap and it looks good, so really, what more can you ask for?
9.Poachies
Ok, this one is a little random. I have become a little sick of spending money on going out for breakfast, just so I can have poached eggs. So I decided to buy these things called Poachies, they’re basically paper bags you put in hot water with a egg, and it makes poached eggs perfectly. It’s amazing.
10. Festivals
It’s officially festival season. Bring on the crop tops, the short shorts and the good times. Whether you’ve gabbered your heart out at Stereo, or you’re planning to kick back with some ciders at Falls, there’s no better way to celebrate summer than with some bevvies, some mates and some sick beats.
